Yes you read that right, I went against the convention and sent links in 40k first emails 😱
(and we didn’t get a single account banned or deactivated)
The reason for sending links was that at that time my client did not have enough manpower to individually follow up, book calls and then take calls.
Here’s how it went down:
Stats:
40.000 emails in 1 month-> got 1500 link clicks to marketplace -> nearly 350 small business owners signed up.
15,000 LinkedIn dms -> got 2798 clicks to the marketplace -> got 178 signups
PR campaign in 1000 US SMB magazines -> this resulted in a lot of clicks and made up the rest of the signups
The sales team has since been booking these signups on sales calls selling our 600 per year software and 3k-10k marketing packages and we’re well into 6 figures generated by this campaign.
Background:
My client is a small business marketplace and software.
They wanted to do a big launch starting with NYC 🚀
We were tasked with contacting as many NY smbs as possible.
Since they were still training their sales team we decided to get them to signup to the marketplace and then get them on sales calls presented as “onboarding calls”.
Setup
We used instantly to setup 110 GWS accounts and 60 M365 accounts.
Used 40 domains with 3 accounts per domain.
Each GWS account had its own workspace. (I have an awsome reseller who set it up)
Note: we have our own partner reseller GWS and M364 was 4$)
Our team did the entire setup, authentications and warmup.
We also redirected all the domains to the marketplace.
This gave us a sending capacity of 5k per day.
(I purposely kept number lower and didn’t utilise the max limit)
Open tracking was off for the campaign.
We turned on provider matching. (Thanks instantly team it’s a game changer 🙏)
We had click tracking on.
For LinkedIn we have our own software which use residential IP’s to automate running LinkedIn accounts – used 200 aged accounts for this campaign.
Leads:
We used Reoon yellow pages scraper to scrape yellow pages
Google Map scraper to scrape Gmaps
Also tried D7 lead finder but it was too expensive for my taste lol.
Grabbed all businesses in NYC.
Ended up scraping 500k businesses with a VPS, VA and a couple of proxies.
We used Reoon to verify the leads.
Then we checked the accept all ones with Google sheets.
Campaign
First I did a small
AB test for subject lines and once I was happy with the open rate (+60%) that’s the line I chose.
The copy was short and sweet. Just 3 lines.
Greeting
Value
CTA Offer w link
Signature
(WNot sharing exact copy as I’ll be using it going into 2024)
I only used normal personalization like business name and location.
Also used a LOT of
Spintext every word had 3 spintext (you can do the maths but I’m pretty sure every email sent was unique 😉)
The sending times were NY time 8-4.
All in all it was a very fun project and we kicked it out of the park.
For projections we were tasked with 500 signups for month 1 and we did 600. The sales team is having a field day reaching out too leads and sub sequences are working overtime.
Going forward one change I will make is to send link in second email through a subsequence after we receive a positive reply.
I did it when selling an I do product offer to coaches and it works even better!
Plus domains don’t risk getting burned haha
